During my adventures in Mexico City, I discovered incredible attractions that cater perfectly to kids. From interactive museums to thrilling parks, there’s something for every family seeking fun and education.
To make the most of your experience, plan ahead, arrive early, and be ready for unforgettable memories!
1. Papalote Children’s Museum, Mexico City, Mexico

Av. de los Compositores 710, Ampliación Daniel Garza, Bosque de Chapultepec II Secc, Miguel Hidalgo, 11830 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico Open in Google Maps Photo Credit to Papalote Museo del Niño
Papalote Children’s Museum is an absolute gem in Mexico City, perfect for kids of all ages! My grandchildren could play for hours in the bubble zone, while I marveled at the fascinating axolotls. The interactive exhibits are not only fun but educational, making learning feel like an adventure rather than a chore. The IMAX theater experience? Totally worth that extra ticket! Those reclining seats really add to the experience.
One of the best parts is how family-friendly it is. We enjoyed the outdoor areas too, where the kiddos could run freely. Just a heads up, the weekends get pretty busy, so if you can, plan your visit on a weekday. The only downside? I would have loved a few more open-ended play activities without waiting for the guided sessions. Nonetheless, this place is a must-visit for any family in Mexico City!
2. Six Flags Mexico, Mexico City, Mexico

Six Flags Mexico, Mexico City
Six Flags Mexico is such an exciting destination that offers an exhilarating mix of fun and thrills for all ages. The park features various themed areas, so whether you’re a fan of superheroes or love classic Looney Tunes, there’s something here for everyone. The rides, like Superman and Medusa, are truly a rush! Just remember to grab a VIP pass to skip those long lines; you won’t want to wait ages for just a minute of adrenaline!
Food options may disappoint, as some shacks were closed during my visit. But hey, who needs gourmet meals when you’re soaring high on roller coasters? Plan ahead, and pack some snacks to save a buck. The staff here are super friendly, making sure you’ll have a memorable time. Plus, don’t miss the dancing characters during events—it’s a delightful surprise!
Visiting Six Flags Mexico is a sure way to create unforgettable memories. Come early, wear comfy shoes, and prepare for a day filled with laughter, screams, and a whole lot of fun!
3. KidZania, Mexico City, Mexico

649, Av. San Fernando 3500, Manantial Peña Pobre, Tlalpan, 14060 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico Open in Google Maps Photo Credit to Benjamin Martinez Ruiz
Kidzania is a fun place where kids can try out different professions, earn kidZ Bucks, and learn valuable skills while having a blast. I mean, who wouldn’t want to be a firefighter or a doctor for a day? Kids actually get a credit card to manage their earnings, making money management an adventure! It’s educational yet super enjoyable, which is a win-win in my book.
However, I did notice that some experiences require some waiting. Yes, there’s a driving test, and those lines can be long. On busy days, you might find it crowded, especially with school trips happening. But the venue is huge, with both indoor and outdoor areas, so there’s plenty to see and do in between the waits.
Overall, Kidzania is a fantastic destination for a day of learning and fun. Just remember to plan your visit wisely, especially on weekends!
4. Frida Kahlo Museum (Casa Azul), Mexico City, Mexico

Frida Kahlo Museum (Casa Azul)
This museum, located in Frida Kahlo’s vibrant blue home, is a captivating journey through her life. Walking through the rooms, I felt her spirit and the tragedies she faced. The museum hosts not just her famous artworks but also personal items that tell her story. Did you know the gardens are stunning and perfect for a serene escape? Just don’t forget to book your tickets in advance to avoid long lines!
The flow of the tour is smooth, and I loved learning about Frida’s world alongside her art. However, be prepared for a crowd, especially on weekends. Don’t miss her amazing dress collection—it’s a true highlight of the visit! Plus, there are charming local vendors nearby, so why not support them while you’re there?
This museum is not just for art lovers; it’s a must-see for anyone interested in one of Mexico’s most iconic figures. A little patience and planning will ensure a memorable experience!

Chapultepec Park, Mexico City
Chapultepec Park, a sprawling oasis in Mexico City, is a treasure trove for both nature lovers and history buffs. Covering a staggering 686 hectares, this park hosts a free zoo, multiple museums, and stunning walking paths, making it an ideal spot for a family day out. I loved wandering through the lush greenery and soaking in the local community vibe — it’s a breath of fresh air amidst the urban hustle.
One of the highlights is definitely the Castillo de Chapultepec, where the views are simply breathtaking. I did a lot of walking, so comfy shoes are a must. Plus, there are plenty of food vendors to satisfy those snack cravings after exploring. Just remember to bring some 5-peso coins if you need to use the bathrooms!
This park isn’t just about nature; it’s a delightful blend of culture and fun waiting to be discovered. Perfect for kids, there’s a playground paradise and paddle boats to rent—who doesn’t love a good boat ride?
6. Aquarium Inbursa, Mexico City, Mexico

Blvd. Miguel de Cervantes Saavedra 386, Granada, Miguel Hidalgo, 11500 Ciudad de México, CDMX, Mexico Open in Google Maps Photo Credit to Acuario Inbursa
Acuario Inbursa offers families a chance to see marine life up close, from playful penguins to dart frogs. I appreciated the interactive sections, especially for little hands looking to touch and learn. It’s compact and can be explored in about an hour, perfect for toddlers with a short attention span.
However, I found the overall upkeep lacking. Some of the exhibits felt a bit cramped, and I was disappointed to see certain areas that could use more attention. If you’re coming from more prominent aquariums, you might feel a bit underwhelmed.
On the upside, the ticketing process was smooth when purchased online. Arriving early is key to avoiding crowds, especially with a group of excited kids in tow. If you’re around and need a quick outing for the children, Acuario Inbursa can still be a fun, albeit imperfect, adventure.
7. Museo del Chocolate Nestlé, Mexico City, Mexico

Stepping into Museo del Chocolate Nestlé is like entering a sweet wonderland! The guided tour gives a fascinating peek into the history of chocolate and the intricate processes involved. I loved the interactive activities, making it fun for both kids and adults. What’s better than chocolate? Learning about how it’s made while munching on some delicious samples!
However, I did find it a bit disappointing that we couldn’t take photos. It’s always fun to snap some memories with chocolate! On the plus side, they offer products at factory prices at the end of the tour, which makes for great souvenirs. Just a tip: sometimes, you can find similar items cheaper at regular stores.
This museum is definitely a delightful outing for families. The combination of education, fun, and, of course, chocolate makes it a must-visit in Mexico City!

The Historical Center of Mexico, or Centro Histórico, is like walking into a living museum. The gorgeous colonial architecture tells stories of the past, perfect for curious minds. As a family-friendly destination, I found plenty of activities to keep the kids engaged. From street performers to colorful markets, the atmosphere is always buzzing. One might wonder, is it too crowded? Sometimes yes, but that just adds to the lively energy!
Delicious street food stands are everywhere, so you can fuel your exploration with tasty treats. I highly recommend grabbing a couple of tacos while soaking in the rich history around you. What’s not to love about eating and learning at the same time?

Paseo de la Reforma is a stunning 19th-century boulevard, built by Emperor Maximilian. Walking down this iconic stretch, I was surrounded by beautiful monuments and modern skyscrapers competing for my attention. The jacaranda trees blossoming in purple were like nature’s confetti, making the whole experience feel festive.
What I loved most was the blend of history with vibrancy. From art installations and sculptures to street vendors selling delightful snacks, there’s no shortage of surprises. I recommend wearing comfy shoes, as the sidewalks are wide and perfect for leisurely strolls. It’s definitely a safe area, so no worries there. Just keep an eye on your belongings!

Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe
Walking into the Basilica of Our Lady of Guadalupe was like stepping into a living tapestry of devotion and history. The modern circular basilica takes your breath away, designed so everyone can see the iconic image of the Virgin of Guadalupe. The sheer scale and the buzz of visitors create an atmosphere that’s electric, whether you’re here for religious reasons or just curious.
The juxtaposition with the Old Basilica adds to the charm, showcasing stunning Baroque architecture. I loved wandering the peaceful gardens where you can really soak in the spirit of the place. And if you’re lucky, you might catch a choir during mass – what an experience!
It’s essential to allow time to explore the grounds. Just remember to keep an eye on your belongings, as it can get crowded. Whether for faith, culture, or a bit of history, this is truly a must-see destination in Mexico City.

You can feel the excitement with every flip and turn in the ring. I particularly loved seeing the older fighters showcase their incredible skills, proving that age is just a number in this line of entertainment!
The venue is spacious and comfortable, with clean facilities, so you won’t have to worry about bathroom lines. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of snacks and drinks available—perfect for keeping the energy up during the matches! It’s a family-friendly event, so bring the kids along for a night of laughter and thrills.
Buying tickets in advance is a smart move, especially on weekends. The vendors outside create a fun vibe, and you can find some great Lucha Libre merchandise before heading inside. Don’t miss out on this unique slice of Mexican culture—it’s an unforgettable experience!

El Mexicano, Mexico City
Walking into El Mexicano feels like stepping into a warm embrace filled with life and flavor. The eclectic decor, complemented by live mariachi music, instantly elevates the dining experience. I was tempted by the buffet, but the a la carte options won me over. The thick tortilla under my eggs—simply mouthwatering!
The service is outstanding, making sure you feel right at home. Our waiter, Irvin, was delightful, always ready with recommendations like the mezcal that added just the right kick to my meal. And let’s not forget the refreshing Palomas. Who doesn’t love a good drink with family and friends?
Returning here is a no-brainer! The authenticity of the food, from mole to escamoles, keeps me coming back. If you want a mix of good food, great service, and vibrant atmosphere, this is the place to be!
